See how REM Reward’s passion for quality sleep is impacting the community!

As a student representative of the NJAAP, the NJ Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, we’re involved in policy recommendations and follow-ups for later school start times among young children.

REM Reward works with the Task Force on Adolescent Sleep and School Start Times to lobby for later school start times at the state level for all grade levels within New Jersey.

REM Reward is proud to partner with School Start Later to further our shared mission of promoting sleep health and well-being. Together, we’re raising awareness about the critical relationship between sleep and school start times. By addressing systemic factors such as school schedules, we aim to create lasting change that benefits students and families nationwide.

We’ve co-authored two articles in Psychology Today spotlighting the critical importance of teen sleep and the effects of later school start times. These articles aim to raise awareness and advocate for evidence-based solutions that promote better sleep, enhance adolescent well-being, and support academic and mental health success.

We’re thrilled to share that our recent Sleep Donation Drive for Hilltop Haven was a resounding success! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we collected over 200 essential sleep items, including sheets, blankets, pillows, ear plugs, eye masks, socks, toothbrushes, lotions and overnight travel bags.

These thoughtful donations will go a long way in helping residents enjoy more restful, restorative sleep - an important step toward rebuilding stability in their lives. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make a meaningful difference. Thank you for supporting this vital initiative!

REM Reward partners with End No Sleep to expand our impact by integrating sleep health education into initiatives that support underserved communities. Together, we are uniting our efforts to raise awareness about the importance of restorative sleep while providing essential items to promote peaceful, quality rest. This collaboration aims to empower individuals worldwide to prioritize sleep as a cornerstone of their mental health and overall well-being, regardless of their circumstances.

With the support of the Ridgewood Public Library, we promote the importance of sleep for young children through a dedicated book display. The selection features age-appropriate titles that highlight the benefits of sleep and encourage healthy bedtime routines. These books help children understand how sleep supports growth, learning, and overall well-being. By presenting sleep as a superpower, we aim to foster positive sleep habits from an early age.

We advocate for better mental health among our fellow high school students. To this end, we’re actively working on an initiative to establish sleep pods and mental health rooms within our school. These spaces will provide students with a dedicated area to take a quick, refreshing nap or find a quiet place for essential downtime whenever they need it.

Our goal is to create ongoing support for student well-being, giving everyone a chance to recharge and manage their mental health throughout the school day.
